About Michael
Prof. Yu was born in Hong Kong and received his Ph.D. (1993) under the supervision of Prof. Chi-Ming Che at the University of Hong Kong. With the support of the Croucher Foundation, he joined Prof. Howard Alper’s research group (Ottawa University, Canada) for postdoctoral research on asymmetric carbonylations. He started his independent career in 2004 as an assistant professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is now a full professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research focuses on the design of effective catalytic systems for cross-coupling reactions leading to carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom bond formation via C–H bond activation.
